Cronulla RSL Stands Together This Purple Friday

On Friday 8 May, Cronulla RSL will join clubs across New South Wales in recognising Purple Friday – Clubs Say No to Domestic Violence, a state-wide initiative demonstrating our industry’s commitment to creating safer communities and workplaces.

Held during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, Purple Friday is a powerful reminder of the role we all play in fostering respectful relationships and supporting those affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.

Led by ClubsNSW, the campaign has seen more than 200 clubs unite in a shared commitment to raise awareness and take meaningful action. On the day, our Club will turn purple, with staff wearing purple and in-venue signage helping to raise visibility and connect people with important support services.

As highlighted by Rebecca Riant, CEO of ClubsNSW, clubs have long been places where people come together, feel safe, and look out for one another. Purple Friday builds on this by ensuring staff are equipped to provide discreet, practical support and guide patrons to the right resources when needed.

The initiative traces back to Cherry Street Sports Club, following the tragic loss of Lindy Lucena, and has since grown into a united, state-wide movement focused on awareness, education, and prevention.

At Cronulla RSL, supporting our community is at the core of everything we do. By standing alongside this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to being a safe, welcoming place where respect is expected, support is available, and no one has to face challenges alone.

This Purple Friday, we encourage our members and community to take a moment to check in, speak up, and stand together.
