Vale Kerry Cattell

It is with deep sadness we share the passing of Kerry Cattell β€” Life Member, Vietnam Veteran, and proud former Director of Cronulla RSL.

Kerry served on our Board for 11 years with distinction, particularly in Finance and Development Control. His dedication to both military and community service shaped the future of our club and earned him lasting respect.

Kerry was honoured with an Honorary Fellowship of Clubs NSW in recognition of his outstanding contribution. He also dedicated his time to local schools each ANZAC Day, helping ensure the story and spirit of the ANZACs β€” and the Australian military more broadly β€” are passed on to younger generations.

Kerry was not only a respected leader at Cronulla RSL but also a man of great character and humility. His story β€” including his time working in counterintelligence during the Vietnam War β€” is one of courage, service, and resilience. His experiences and reflections were captured in our powerful podcast that offers insight into the life of a man who lived with honour and purpose.

Kerry joined the Cronulal RSL Sub Branch in 2005 and served with distinction. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Kerry served his country with honour.

His knowledge, leadership, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A loving husband to Vicki, and a devoted father and grandfather, Kerry's legacy will continue on and never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kerry’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you, Kerry. For your service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to our community. You will be deeply missed.

Lest we forget.

We were truly fortunate to have the opportunity to sit down with Kerry and capture his remarkable story on the Cronulla RSL Community Podcast, Friends By the Beach, before his passing.

Kerry generously shared reflections on his extraordinary life of serviceβ€”not only in the military, but also through his ongoing dedication to the local community. In a moving conversation, he recounted the powerful experiences that shaped him during his time serving in Vietnam, particularly his role in counterintelligence.

It was a privilege to hear firsthand how those defining years influenced his perspective, his resilience, and the way he continued to serve others long after his return home. We feel incredibly lucky to have recorded this piece of living history, preserving his legacy and spirit for generations to come.
