Shine a Light on a Local Program This Christmas
Since its inception in 2016, Trees of Hope has become a cherished tradition at Cronulla RSL, transforming the Club each festive season into a vibrant symbol of generosity and community spirit. Now in its ninth year, the initiative showcases and supports local programs that make a real difference in people’s lives and in 2025, it’s returning with an exciting new twist.
This year, Cronulla RSL is inviting the community to help shape the campaign by nominating programs and initiatives that deserve recognition and support. From youth services to mental health programs, aged care to family support, the Club is seeking nominations for initiatives making a tangible impact in Cronulla & the Sutherland Shire.
“We know there are so many worthwhile initiatives out there, and this is an opportunity for them to be seen, supported, and celebrated.” said Nathan Whiteside, CEO of Cronulla RSL.
“Each tree in this campaign represents more than decoration, it represents hope,” said a Cronulla RSL spokesperson. “We know there are incredible initiatives in our community doing life-changing work. This year, we want to hear about them.”
How to Nominate:
Individuals or organisations can nominate a community program, via an online form on the Cronulla RSL Community webpage, providing information such as:
A summary of the initiative
Who it helps and how
The cost of the program
The impact it has on the community
Links to webpages and social media, to support the nomination.
Nominations close October 7th 2025 , and three programs will be selected out of the nomination pool, by a panel. The chosen organisations will each be invited to decorate a feature tree to represent their program, displayed prominently inside the Club throughout November and December. Each Monday during the competition period, financial members can collect their weekly voting ticket at the Members Kiosk in the Club’s reception and place in in the respective ballot box.
Voting will close on Sunday 14th December. The winning organisation will be announced on Monday 15th December, and the three organisations will be awarded part of a $7,000 prize pool.
Programs not selected for a feature tree will be acknowledged on a Community Trees in the Club’s Reception.
This is more than a Christmas display, it’s a platform to uplift those creating lasting change. Nominate an organisation today and help a deserving cause be seen, celebrated, and supported.
