Join Cronulla RSL in Promoting Heart Health Awareness: Run, Walk, Swim, and Get Tested!

Heart health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, yet it's often overlooked until it's too late. In an effort to promote awareness and proactive measures for heart health, Cronulla RSL is taking the lead with an exciting community event on May 4th. This event aims to not only encourage physical activity but also provide free heart health testing, fostering a culture of prevention and care within the local community.

On May 4th, Cronulla RSL have invited Cronulla RSL Swimming Club & local run club Rossco’s Run Club, to host a community-led run/walk, and swim. Whether it's a light jog along the coastline, a leisurely walk with friends, or a refreshing swim in the ocean, the emphasis is not only on physical activity but also on coming together as a community to support each other's health and well-being.

There will also be free heart health testing for a limited number of participants. This includes blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and other essential assessments to gauge heart health. These tests will be conducted by qualified professionals through Heart Beat of Football, ensuring accurate results and providing participants with valuable insights into their cardiovascular well-being.

How to Participate:

Participation in this event is open to all members of the Cronulla community and beyond. Interested individuals can sign up through the Cronulla RSL Community website www.cronullarslcommunity.com.au/makeitred.

Why It Matters:

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death globally, affecting millions of lives each year. While certain risk factors such as genetics and age are beyond our control, many aspects of heart health can be improved through lifestyle choices and early detection. More than 25,000 Australians each year suffer an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest (OHSCA), with survival rates less than 10%.

We hope #MakeItRed Day will empower individuals to take proactive steps towards better heart health. From engaging in regular physical activity to getting routine check-ups, small actions can make a significant difference in reducing the risk of heart disease and improving overall quality of life.

Let's come together on May 4th to run, walk, swim, and make a difference in the fight against heart disease. Together, we can raise awareness, support each other's health journeys, and strive towards a heart-healthy future for all.
