Grandmaster Ian Rogers Visits Cronulla RSL Chess Club

In December 2025, Cronulla RSL had the privilege of welcoming Ian Rogers OAM, Australia’s first homegrown chess Grandmaster, for a special event at the Club. Awarded the prestigious FIDE Grandmaster title in 1985, GM Rogers is renowned not only as a player but also as a trainer and chess journalist. During his visit, he played three engaging games against members of the Cronulla RSL Chess Club, providing an unforgettable experience for all involved. The matches were captured on video by Bill, the principal founder of the Club, preserving these exciting moments for members and chess enthusiasts alike.
