Veteran Exercise Program
At the Cronulla RSL Sub-Branch, we believe that supporting our veterans means looking after the "whole person." Our Veteran Exercise Program is committed to helping those who served improve their physical fitness while finding a supportive community of peers.
From Strength to Strength
What started in 2023 as a small gathering of 3–5 veterans has flourished into a vital weekly fixture. By the end of 2024, our regular attendance reached 15 participants—a number that has held strong to this day. This growth is a testament to the program’s value and the life-changing benefits it provides to our members.
Tailored for Veterans
We understand that transitioning to civilian life can bring challenges like social isolation or physical injury. Led by specialist coach Ian Jagger (Jags) of Built Ready, our sessions are specifically designed for veteran needs. Beyond the physical gains, these sessions offer a safe space to reduce stress and reconnect with the unique camaraderie that only those who have served can truly understand.
Join the program
Participation is open to all veterans, regardless of age, fitness level, or service history. Our sessions are designed to be inclusive, with exercises modified to accommodate any physical limitations or service-related injuries.
When: Weekly Fridays
Cost: $15.00 per person (subsidised by the Cronulla RSL Sub-Branch
What to Bring: Comfortable training gear, a water bottle, and a willingness to engage with the crew. No prior gym experience is necessary.
More than just a workout!
The Built Ready program recognises that veteran health is as much about social connection as it is about physical reps. We believe in moving the program "beyond the four walls of the gym" to foster a broader support network.
Wellbeing Adventures: We regularly host regional outreach trips, such as our inaugural visit to the Coledale RSL Sub-Branch. These outings allow members to connect with the wider veteran community and enjoy the "Coast to Coast" camaraderie.
Community Events: From the "Coast to Coast" Bowls Competition to post-training coffees, the program provides a consistent social calendar that combats isolation and builds lasting friendships.
