About our Collection

The Memorabilia Collection began officially in 1986. However, it had started some years prior to that via donations from Cronulla Sub-Branch members (or their families) of relevant items regarding their military service, in both wars and peacekeeping. Hence, this Collection reflects involvement of local people in their service to our nation. We maintain these items in their honour. Currently (2024) we have around 3,000 diverse items in the Collection – photographs, art, uniforms, relics, letters from/to home, pieces of equipment or ‘working kit’, just to name a few of the many.

By 1986 the “Collection” went on display and approval was gained from the Club to create a permanent display. An area near the lower carpark access became a good-sized display and was constantly in use from 1986-2015, with displays changed on a regular basis.

With the major Club renovations of 2015, the display area moved to near the foyer area until early 2018, when it was dismantled, and all items were stored while level 3/Reception/foyer underwent renovations. With another round of Club refurbishment soon to start, the plans incorporate a new, larger means of display, but this time, bigger and better. As of August 2024, a completion date is unavailable.

We cannot display everything we have in the Collection, but what you will eventually see will be more than you expect. You will be surprised of the contribution of the Cronulla/Shire residents to the service to our country.
