Member Joanne Beavis Selected for Team Australia Invictus Games

Cronulla RSL congratulates member Joanne Beavis on her selection for Team Australia at the Invictus Germany Sports Festival 2026.

Joanne is one of 20 competitors selected to represent Australia at the event, which will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, bringing together competitors from around the world through the Invictus movement.

Jo served in the Australian Army for 25 years, beginning her career in the Army Band Corps in 1990. During her service she undertook postings across Australia and overseas, including deployments to Bougainville, Vanuatu and the Sinai, before medically discharging from the Army in 2015.

Since leaving full-time service, Jo has remained deeply connected to the veteran community. She is a Legatee with Sydney Legacy, Vice President of Miranda RSL, and works with veterans, families and vulnerable community members through wellbeing, education and support programs. Her commitment to service continues through her advocacy and support of others.

Sport has also played an important role in Jo's life. A competitive swimmer in her youth, she has embraced swimming, cycling, rowing, yoga and meditation as part of her ongoing wellbeing journey. Having first connected with the Invictus movement as a volunteer during the Sydney 2018 Invictus Games, Jo said she was "extremely humbled and very excited" to be selected to represent Australia as part of Team Australia 2026.

We are proud to see Jo achieve this significant milestone and represent both Australia and the Sutherland Shire on the international stage.
